Youth Vote by the Numbers   [Karin Agness]

Senator Obama's campaign was really visible on college campuses this fall. That visibility and focus on the youth vote translated into success among young voters age 18-29. According to CIRCLE, about 22-24 million young Americans voted, an increase of about 2.2 million from the 2004 presidential race. Young voters made up approximately 18 percent of all voters, an increase from 16 percent in 2004. Sixty-six percent of young Americans voted for Obama.

Let's remember that it hasn't always been this way. Ronald Reagan won the youth vote in 1984 and so did George H.W. Bush in 1988.
